David Lyon - Ph.D.

Senior Vice President

Dr. Lyon, Senior Vice President, oversees Research at Bend Research.  He leads development activities for new technologies, oversees the development of predictive biomodels, and provides technical and general leadership to the research groups for new and applied technologies.  Dr. Lyon is also responsible for all activities related to new business development. His areas of technical expertise include the reactivity of small organic molecules in the solid state, controlled-release formulations, the solubilization of compounds with low aqueous solubility, the formulation of biotherapeutics, inhaled therapies, and nanotechnology-based drug delivery.  

Dr. Lyon joined Bend Research in 1991, after finishing postdoctoral work at the California Institute of Technology.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Western Washington University and a doctorate in inorganic/organometallic chemistry from the University of Oregon.  

He is a member of the Oregon Bioscience Association board, the Oregon Translational Research and Drug Development Institute board, the University of Oregon College of Arts and Sciences board, and the University of Washington School of Pharmacy Corporate Advisory board, as well as serving as liaison in corporate relations for the University of Oregon and a liaison for the Oregon Independent College Foundation.  He holds eight U.S. patents and has 23 scientific publications.
