Advanced Engineering Capabilities
Bend Research develops/optimizes pharmaceutical engineering processes and technologies using an approach grounded in engineering fundamentals and creative experimentation to understand key physical situations. Our engineering group has developed a wide range of tools over decades to assist customers with the following: process understanding and modeling, equipment design and prototyping, process development and optimization, and science of scale and technology transfer.
Bend Research Osmotic-Delivery Dosage Form Technologies: Summary of Intellectual Property
Bend Research has developed osmotic-delivery dosage forms that are effective for delivery of many active pharmaceutical ingredients, including those having high solubilities in aqueous solutions. These are devided into two categories: Swellable Core Technology and Osmotic Dosage Forms for Delivery of Spray-Dried Dispersions.
cGMP Laboratories at Bend Research
Bend Research has two laboratories that provide cGMP analytical testing. The Quality Control laboratory, located at our cGMP manufacturing site, supplies timely support for all clinical manufacturing activities at Bend Research, including raw material, in-process, and cleaning verification testing. The Analytical Sciences laboratory, located at the Tumalo R&D facility, develops methods, performs validation activities, and provides drug product release and stability testing.
Clinical Supply Manufacture at Bend Research
Bend Research's cGMP facility specializes in the production of advanced formulations for clinical trial materials. The facility is focused on versatility and quality, leveraging strong process understanding and efficient technology-transfer strategies.
Drug Targeting at Bend Research
Many therapeutically active molecules suffer from mechanism-based or off-target toxicities. An estimated 30% of clinical attrition is due to candidate toxicity or other safety issues, representing lost economic and therapeutic opportunity measured in millions or billions of dollars. Selective delivery of drugs and drug candidates to targeted cells or tissues has the potential to expand the therapeutic window and enable development of novel drugs for new and existing therapeutic targets. Bend Research has addressed this need using a drug-targeting approach based on detailed predictive modeling and the development of patented materials for use in targeted formulations.
