March 15 Webinar: Solubilization by Extrusion: Formulation Selection and Process Development
March 15, 2012 - 10:00am (Pacific Time)
Webinar presented by Xcelience and Bend Research. Hot-melt extrusion is a processing technique that is being widely implemented for the solubilization of BCS-class 2 or 4 pharmaceuticals. Relative to other processing techniques, it can serve as a low-cost, continuous option that is scalable and commercially viable. To achieve those final goals, a robust formulation and process needs to be defined early in development. A structured approach for selecting a formulation and process will be reviewed, as well as a fundamental approach to defining an operating space to promote a robust, scalable process.
May 3 Webinar: Engineered Particles for Inhaled Biotherapeutics: Considerations in Process and Formulation
May 3, 2012 - 8:00am (Pacific Time)
The number of pharmaceutical biological compounds in development and on the market is rapidly expanding, and this trend includes developing biotherapeutics to be delivered through inhalation. However, popular delivery systems, such as nebulizers, and often-used excipients, such as lactose, can present delivery, incompatibility, stability, and other issues. In response, spray drying has been used to manufacture and deliver inhalable engineered particles using excipients other than lactose.

Spray Dried Dispersions: Robust Formulation and Science of Scale from Preclinical to Launch
September 29, 2011 - 8:00am (Pacific Time)
Spray-dried dispersions (SDDs) are an increasingly popular formulation choice in all stages of development for the oral delivery of poorly soluble drugs. This webinar will address scientific and practical aspects of formulation selection and process design relative to early- and late-stage pharmaceutical development.
Spray-Dried Dispersion Formulations in Suspensions and Solid Dosage Forms
September 7, 2011 - 10:00am (Pacific Time)
Amorphous spray dried dispersions (SDDs) have emerged as a broadly applicable technology for the delivery of poorly soluble drug molecules and have proved well suited to dosing in suspension and solid dosage forms. This presentation will cover several key aspects of SDD technology including formulation selection, practical aspects suspension dosing, and incorporation into immediate release and modified release solid dosage forms.
Dextran-Based Amorphous Dispersions as a Platform Technology in Preclinical Screening for Inhaled Dry Powders
April 27, 2011 - 8:00am (Pacific Time)
This webinar discussed using amorphous dispersions as a platform technology to rapidly formulate compounds as respirable dry powders for preclinical evaluation. Dextran 10 was discussed as an exemplary dispersion excipient with optimal physical properties, including a high glass-transition temperature even at elevated relative humidities. The spray-drying process was discussed, including the use of custom equipment designed to improve collection efficiency and yield across a wide range of scales (from 100 mg to 1 kg).
Enhancing The Bioavailability Of Low-Solubility Compounds
March 29, 2010 - 12:00pm (Pacific Time)
Presented by Dana Settell, Dan Dobry and David Vodak, Ph.D. Summary of SDD Technology Case Studies: Formulation of Compounds in Challenging Chemical Spaces
