Lyon Named as Vice President-Physical and Biological Sciences

Oregon--David Lyon has been promoted to Vice President-Physical and Biological
Sciences at Bend Research Inc.
The promotion was announced today by Bend Research President Rod Ray, who
said Lyon has played a key leadership role at Bend Research in directing the
company’s fundamental research efforts.
“David’s hard work has been instrumental in our success, particularly in
building cross-disciplinary teams focused on advanced drug-delivery challenges,”
Ray said.
Lyon has been with the Bend-based research and development laboratory since
1991. He holds a doctorate in inorganic/organometallic chemistry from the
University of Oregon and received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry
from Western Washington University. He performed post-doctoral research at the
California Institute of Technology.
Lyon’s areas of expertise include the reactivity of small molecules in the
solid state, controlled-release technologies, and the solubilization of poorly
soluble pharmaceuticals. Previously, he served as Director-Chemistry and group
leader at Bend Research.
He holds five U.S. patents and has 20 professional publications.
