Science Night
Each year, Bend Research sponsors free Science Night demonstrations for
groups of students from second through eighth grade. These
demonstrations, designed to spark students’ interest in science,
accommodate groups of 30 to 40 from areas schools, youth groups, home
school organizations, and clubs. Parents are welcome to attend.
The Science Night demonstrations are held February through June from 6 to 8
p.m. at Bend Research’s Tumalo facility. The night begins with an outside
demonstration on exothermic reactions and then students break into small groups
that rotate through five different indoor stations, some of which involve
hands-on demonstrations.
Each Science Night will include five of the topics from the list below:
- Lights and Colors
- Polymers
- Molecules in Motion
- Chromatography
- Highly Exothermic Reactions
- Vortexes
- Static Electricity
- SEM
- Magical Science
- Lasers
- Sound
