Bend Science Station Sponsorships
Since 2003, Bend Research has sponsored free hands-on science classes for
fifth-graders from the Bend-La Pine, Sisters, and Redmond school districts at the
Bend Science
Station, a nonprofit science education facility.
Classes are divided in half for a 1-hour session per group in a well-equipped scientific laboratory. Transportation is provided.
There are three hands-on, science labs to choose from:
Chemical Energy - Students experiment with
endothermic and exothermic reactions.
Making Motors - Students investigate
electromagnetism and construct their own motors.
Basic Cardiology - Students monitor their
own EKGs and conduct a class heart rate experiment.
These sponsorships are available for classes in the Bend-La Pine, Redmond, and Sisters School Districts. Tina McGeary coordinates the program and transportation
for groups from the Bend-LaPine School District..
